Chamarajanagar Hit Hard: Heavy Rains Wreak Havoc on Banana Plantations, Resulting in 25 Crore Rupees Loss

Heavy rainfall in Chamarajanagar wreaked havoc on banana plantations spanning thousands of acres, resulting in an estimated loss of approximately Rs 25 crore.

The devastation impacted around 900 farmers across Chamarajanagar, Kollegala, Yalandur, Hanur, and Gundlupet taluks, who collectively cultivated bananas on 1,250 acres of land.

Preliminary assessments conducted by officials from the Horticulture Department revealed that farmers faced losses averaging Rs 2 lakh per acre. District Collector Shilpa Nag has pledged to ensure affected farmers receive suitable compensation by the guidelines of the State Disaster Relief Fund.
