Gender Minority Candidate to Contest Against PM Modi in Varanasi Race

A gender minority is contesting from the Varanasi constituency in Uttar Pradesh, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Kinner Mahamandaleshwar Himangi Sakhi is contesting from Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM).

Right-wing party ABHM has released a list of 20 candidates in Uttar Pradesh, in which the name of Kinner Mahamandaleshwar Himangi Sakhi has been announced.

Kinner Mahamandaleshwar, who is an ardent devotee of Krishna, has entered the election fray to advocate for the rights of gender minorities.

Kinner Mahamandaleshwar Himangi Sakhi has demanded that Prime Minister Modi should give reservation not only to women but also to gender minorities in jobs and to contest elections in all elections including Lok Sabha.

According to Election Commission reports, 48,044 transgender minorities have registered for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in the country. In the 2019 election, their number was 39,683.

Kinner Mahamandaleshwar Himangi Sakhi is the first gender minority in the world to recite Bhagwat Katha. He has presented many recitals including Bhagwat Katha, Ram Katha, and Devi Bhagwat Katha in many countries around the world. Originally from Mumbai, he started praying at an ISKCON temple near his home from an early age. Later he became a devotee of Krishna.

Elections will be held in Varanasi on June 1, and out of 19.62 lakh voters, 135 are from gender minorities. Ajay Roy from Congress is contesting against Modi.
