Jammu and Kashmir’s special status revoked today: Mehbooba Mufti placed under house arrest

Srinagar: The Supreme Court will pronounce its verdict today on the constitutional validity of the Centre’s decision to abrogate the special status granted to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 of the Constitution.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti has been placed under house arrest.

Even before the Supreme Court pronounced the verdict, the police closed the doors of Mehbooba Mufti’s residence and placed her under house arrest, the party shared information on X.

Meanwhile, the police did not allow journalists to come near the residences of National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah and vice-president Omar Abdullah in Gupkar, officials said.

Omar Abdullah has been living with his Father Farooq since he vacated his official residence in 2020.

Farooq Abdullah is currently a Member of Parliament from Srinagar. So he left for Delhi for the winter session. Police said only the son was at the residence.
