Jaya Bachchan Demands Apology Over Exchange with Rajya Sabha Chairman, Criticizes Conduct in Parliament

Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan has voiced her dissatisfaction with the conduct of Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, following a heated exchange between the two. Bachchan expressed her objections to the tone used by the Chairman during a parliamentary session, emphasizing that members of Parliament should not be treated like “school children,” especially senior citizens like herself.

Bachchan was particularly upset when the microphone was switched off while the Leader of Opposition was speaking.”How can you do this? You have to allow the Leader of Opposition to speak,” she stated, criticizing the Chairman’s actions.

She also condemned the use of “unparliamentary words” during the session, without specifying them, but mentioned feeling insulted by comments such as “You are a nuisance” and “Buddhiheen.”

Bachchan highlighted that the Chairman’s dismissive attitude, referencing her celebrity status, was inappropriate. “I am a member of Parliament. This is my fifth term. I know what I am saying,” she asserted, calling for an apology for the behavior she found disrespectful and unprecedented in parliamentary history.
