Karnataka High Court Labels Sharing of Videos in Prajwal Revanna Scandal a ‘Serious Offense’

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court, during a hearing on the Prajwal Revanna sex scandal case, stated that the distribution of obscene videos related to the case is a serious offense, expressing concern over the insult it brings to the victims. The court condemned the act of sharing a pen drive containing explicit videos, deeming it highly inappropriate.

Justice M. Nagaprasanna, presiding over the single-judge bench, was hearing a petition by former BJP MLA Pritam Gowda, who sought to dismiss the complaint filed against him for allegedly distributing the explicit videos at the Bengaluru Cyber Crime station.

Senior advocate C.V. Nagesh, representing Gowda, assured the court that his client was willing to cooperate with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and had no objections to the ongoing investigation. However, the court questioned whether Gowda had complied with inquiries, to which his lawyer responded that no notice had yet been issued by the SIT.

The bench criticized both the handling of the case and the lack of government action, stating that the situation had been exaggerated. The matter has been adjourned for further consideration.
