Malala Yousafzai marries Aseer Malik in a ‘small nikah ceremony’ in UK

Noble Prize Winner Malala Yousafzai on Tuesday got married to Asser Malik in a small ceremony in Birmingham, England.

Asser Malik has been working for the Pakistan sports industry, according to reports. His LinkedIn page says that he’s a ‘General Manager High Performance for the Pakistan Cricket Board.’ He has also shared several pictures from various cricket events on his Instagram page.

Although it’s not clear for how long Malala and Asser have known each other but the couple seem to have known each other since June 2019, according to HollywoodLife. Asser had shared a group selfie on his Instagram of cheering for Pakistan at the Edgaston Stadium in Birmingham, and Malala was with him. He tagged her in the caption, said the report.

According to reports, before taking on a job with Pakistan’s Cricket Board, Malik had a high-ranking role in an amateur league that revitalized Pakistani interest in the bat-and-ball sport. ESPN cricinfo says that he was a “managing director of a player-management agency and franchise owner in the amateur league Last Man Stand”.

Asser has studied bachelor’s of science degree in economics and political science at Lahore University of Management Sciences from 2008 to 2012. He was also the president of Dramaline, an organization which did theatre productions, the report stated.

Malala Yousafzai announced that she had a “small nikkah ceremony at home in Birmingham with our families”.

When Yousafzai was 15, she was shot in the head by militants from the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan in her home town in the Swat valley while on a school bus in 2012. She recovered after several months of treatment at home and abroad before co-writing a best-selling memoir titled “I am Malala.”
