Russia, Ukraine exchange more than 200 prisoners of war

Kiev/Moscow: More than 200 prisoners from Russia and Ukraine have been released in a deal to exchange prisoners of war, officials said.

Officials said the agreement on the exchange of prisoners of war was brokered by an Arab nation.

In a post on X, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said: “Russia has released 213 Ukrainian soldiers, 11 officers, and six civilians, all of whom have returned to Ukraine. Thank you to everyone who has achieved this”.

Ukraine has released 234 of its soldiers from detention, Russia’s defense ministry said.

The agreement on the exchange of prisoners comes amid the ongoing missile attacks between the two countries. On Wednesday, five people were killed and 130 others injured in Russian missile strikes on the Ukrainian cities of Kiev and Horkiv.
