Shootout case: Police starts investigation intensely

IGP Suhas said that police have got good lead, soon all accused will be arrested

BIJAPUR; 03 Oct: Following the shootout incident on history sheeter, Mahadev Sahukar Bhairagond on Monday, the police have intensified its investigation in different parts of the district and neighboring districts.

“ We are looking into all directions of the case. So far, we have collected some primary but vital information in the shootout case. Soon the culprits will be arrested”, said Raghavendra Suhas, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Northern Range.

It may be noted that some assailants attacked the convoy of Bhairagond near Kannal Cross, outskirts of the city on Monday in which Bhairagond received three bullet injuries and was hospitalized while two of his men died in the incident.  

Addressing media persons during his visit to the city on Tuesday to monitor the investigation, he said that according to the preliminary reports, the shootout is the result of the rivalry between Bhairagond and the deceased, Dharmaraj Chadchan gang as the both families have maintained rivalry since long.

“ We are not ruling out any possibilities as of now. We have constituted a team of efficient police officials to investigate the case. As per our information, about 15-20 persons had come fully prepared for the attack. They had also come in different vehicles to flee from the spot after the attack”, Suhas said.

He said that a lorry, a few bullets and some petrol bombs have been seized in this connection.

Claiming that the police have already found out the possible suspects in the case, he said that already the police have raided some 35 locations in the city and parts of Solapur and Chadchan taluk.

“ Besides this, we have called for forensic experts of Belagavi for helping us in the investigation”, Suhas said.

He said that some old cases have been reopened for getting help in solving the case.

With regard to the health of Bhairagond and other associates who were injured in the shootout, Suhas said that while one of the associates died on the spot on Monday’s shoot out, his driver succumbed to injuries later. “ As far as Bhairagond is concerned, he is said to be serious but stable as of now after three bullets piercing his body”, he said.

“ Our men are intensely investigating the case, soon we will arrest all the culprits and give a logical end to this case”, Suhas announced.
