Jammu and Kashmir PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday said that she had been placed under house arrest in Srinagar. Slamming the centre, she said that the BJP-led government expresses concern regarding the rights of Afghans while denying them to Kashmiris.
Taking it Twitter, she tweeted, “GOI expresses concern for the rights of Afghan people but wilfully denies the same to Kashmiris.
The former J&K chief minister also said that the administration told her that the situation in Kashmir is far from normal.
“I’ve been placed under house arrest today because according to admin the situation is far from normal in Kashmir. This exposes their fake claims of normalcy,” she added in her tweet.
According to reports, she was scheduled to attend a private event when she was detained.
However, there is no official response from the administration on Mehbooba Mufti’s house arrest.
Mufti’s tweets came soon after the J&K Police said that most of the restrictions have been eased in the region, including the mobile internet, and that the situation is “fully normal”, but under “close watch”.
After the demise of separatist leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, on September 01, Mobile services and internet were suspended in the erstwhile state.
