Heavy Rains Continue to Batter Karnataka; Rivers and Reservoirs Overflowing, More Rain Expected Until August 1st

Bengaluru (PTI): Karnataka is experiencing relentless heavy rains across most of its districts, causing rivers and reservoirs to overflow and create havoc. The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast indicating that the intense rainfall will persist in these regions until August 1st.

The heavy rains are expected to continue in the Malnad and coastal regions, including the Cauvery River basin areas, through the first week of August. This forecast has prompted authorities to remain vigilant.

Districts such as Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Kodagu, and Belagavi are particularly affected by the ongoing heavy rainfall. The weather department predicts that the downpour will intensify in these areas in the coming days. Meanwhile, moderate rainfall is expected in other districts, including Chamarajanagar, Davangere, Mysuru, Chitradurga, Bidar, Kolar, Dharwad, and Kalaburagi.

Authorities are on high alert as the overflowing rivers and reservoirs pose a significant risk to the affected regions. Residents in vulnerable areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay informed about weather updates.
