Karnataka: Student beaten up for making friends with a girl from another community

According to reports, a Muslim student from the Dakshina Kannada region was beaten up by his classmates for making friends with a Hindu girl. The incident occurred in the Karnataka town of Sullia, which is around 300 miles from Bengaluru, the state capital, and a case has been filed against the suspects.

Deekshith, Dhanush, Prajwal, Thanuj, Akshay, Mokshith, and Goutham are just a few of the accused who have been identified in the case. According to news agency ANI, the assaulted student, Mohd Sanif, went to the police on Tuesday and lodged a complaint against his classmates, who had beaten him up for talking to a Hindu girl.

The accused viciously beat Mohd Sanif, leaving him with serious wounds. There are still unanswered questions regarding the incident and the arrests.

Recent years have seen a number of incidents in the coastal Karnataka region. At Siribagilu village in Dakshina Kannada district in April of this year, a Muslim kid driving his auto rickshaw was reportedly beaten by a right-wing group for picking up a Hindu woman. Another right-wing mob entered a pub in Mangalore in July of this year and protested girl students dancing late into the night. The pub had to be evacuated by the students.
