KSNDMC issues red alert for six different districts in Karnataka; temperature likely to soar to 46 degrees

Temperatures have been rising all over India with the southern states facing the havoc of the summers. Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh are the worst hit among the southern states and the temperatures have peaked the 44.5 degree mark.

In Karnataka, a red alert denoting severe heat wave has been issued for six districts by the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), as temperatures are likely to cross the 46 degrees Celsius mark.
KSNDMC has quoted SHAR-ISRO as its source. It has been also reported by the KSNDMC that Bagalkote, Dharwad, Belagavi, Gadag, Koppal and Haveri districts will see temperatures ranging from 40 to 46 degrees Celsius between the time period of May 1 to May 9.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department in Bengaluru also issued a statement saying, “the trough/wind discontinuity from southeast Madhya Pradesh to South Interior Karnataka (SIK), across Vidarbha, Marathawada and North Interior Karnataka (NIK) extending up to 1.5km above mean sea level persists.”
