Siddaramaiah to Remain CM, Confirms Deputy CM D K Shivakumar

Raichur: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Tuesday dismissed speculation about replacing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, reaffirming that Siddaramaiah will remain in his position despite opposition calls for his resignation over the MUDA site allotment case.

Shivakumar stated that there was no need for internal discussions within the Congress, as the case is under investigation. He was responding to senior Congress leader K B Koliwad’s suggestion that Siddaramaiah should step down to avoid further embarrassment for the party.

Denying any agreement regarding a “2.5 years rotational CM formula” between him and Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar asserted, “There won’t be any change.” He also addressed speculation about other leaders, including Minister Satish Jarkiholi, being considered for the CM post, saying, “Our Chief Minister is Siddaramaiah, and we will continue working under him.”

Siddaramaiah is currently facing investigations by the Lokayukta and ED in connection to alleged irregularities involving the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). The probe involves accusations against his wife, Parvathi B M, and other relatives.

Shivakumar also commented on recent election results, expressing disappointment over Congress’ performance in Haryana while celebrating favorable outcomes for the INDI Alliance in Jammu and Kashmir.
