Woman’s undressing-assault case: Police honored those who gave information

Belgaum: The Belagavi City Police has honored and congratulated the public who informed the police and tried to prevent the assault of a woman in Vantamuri village of Belagavi taluk, which was in the news all over the country.

Today (Dec. 30) morning, a police parade program was organized at the police ground in the city. At this time, the residents of Vantamuri village, Jahangir Tehsildar, Wasim Makanadara, and village panchayat president Siddappa Hollikara, who tried to prevent the incident, were honored.

City Police Commissioner Siddaramappa honored Jehangir with a commendation letter given by the court during the felicitation. A cash prize of five thousand rupees each was also distributed to the three.

On hearing about the incident, PSI Manjunath Hulakunda, who rushed to the spot and arrested the accused in the case, along with six staff members were honored at the same time.

After talking to the media, Belgaum City Police Commissioner Siddaramappa said, “We have honored those who prevented the incident that took place in Vantamuri village. We have honored three members of the public of Vantamuri village. We have also honored the admirable letter given by the court. Kakati Station PSI honored six people. We have given 5,000 cash to PSI and 4,000 to the remaining five staff members,” he said.

“We will protect the three people who gave the information so that nothing happens to the public. “When a crime happens, don’t be afraid and inform the police,” the commissioner appealed to the public at the same time.
