Man Detained for Obscene Dance in Front of Rani Kamalapati’s Statue; BJP MP Calls for NSA Action

Bhopal (PTI): A viral video showing a man dancing obscenely in front of the statue of Gond queen Rani Kamalapati in Bhopal has led to police action. A suspect, who is reportedly an employee of the 23rd Battalion of the police, has been detained. His face allegedly matches the individual in the video, and further interrogation is underway.

Bhopal BJP MP Alok Sharma has demanded the invocation of the stringent National Security Act (NSA) against the accused, submitting a memorandum to Police Commissioner Harinarayanchari Mishra.

An FIR has been registered at Shyamla Hills police station, and the investigation is ongoing. Rani Kamalapati, the 18th-century Gond queen, has a statue located on Bhopal’s Lower Lake suspension bridge. The city’s Habibganj station was renamed in her honor.
