Congress and Shiv Sena demand resignation of the Maharashtra Cabinet after multiple deaths in government hospitals

Opposition parties Shiv Sena (UTB) and Congress on Monday had put allegations on the Maharashtra Government and asked them to resign based on the “confession” by the State Health Minister, Tanaji Sawant regarding the responsibility of the death of several patients at the two state-run hospitals. There was also a demand made by the Congress government for showing a clean white paper on the public health system in order to identify the cause of deaths at the two government hospitals in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Nanded.

The following remarks come from the opposition party in the light of the death of 31 patients including the infants, at the Dr Shankarrao Chavan Government Medical College hospital which is situated in Nanded. Apart from this, 18 patients also died at the Government Medical College and Hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar between October 2 and 3. The Maharashtra Cabinet is yet to pass an official settlement regarding the matter.

The Mumbai High Court also released a statement against the Maharashtra Government saying “Can’t escape responsibility” and also said that the public healthcare system should be strengthened and it should also seek affidavits with the details of the sanctioned posts of various medical staff and doctors across the state-run hospitals.

Advocate General Birendra Saraf for the state government stated the bench that a three-member panel had visited the government hospital in Nanded and found that most of the patients who died were brought in a critical condition, at the last stage, He also added that the private and smaller government hospitals have no facilities for the critical patients.
