Seven Odisha Engineering Students Expelled for Cooking Beef, Sparking Controversy

Berhampur (Odisha) (PTI): Seven students from a state-run engineering college in Berhampur, Odisha, were expelled from their hostel for allegedly cooking beef, an activity deemed “restricted” on the premises, an official said on Monday.

Parala Maharaja Engineering College authorities issued an expulsion order on Thursday, citing the students’ involvement in “restrictive activities.” One student was also fined Rs 2,000, and the decision was communicated to their parents.

The students were found cooking beef in their hostel room on Wednesday, violating institutional rules. The action was taken after an inquiry was initiated following a complaint by fellow students.

Activists from Bajrang Dal and VHP have demanded stricter action, prompting police deployment near the college campus and hostels to prevent any unrest.
