PM in Chennai: changed the notion of strong government controlling everything

The idea that a strong government should control everything and everyone has changed, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who also emphasised that the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 “ensures more freedom for young” to make decisions.

Speaking with Chief Minister MK Stalin at Anna University’s 42nd convocation, PM Modi also defended the new education policy, aspects of which the Stalin-led DMK government has strongly opposed. The state of Tamil Nadu is creating its own education policy.

PM Modi stated that in the age of tech-led disruptions, there are three crucial reasons in favour of graduates, the third being that his “strong government” does not interfere and provides the independence provided by NEP 2020.

PM Modi, who is on a two-day visit to Chennai, said, “Earlier, there was a notion that a strong government means it should control everything and everyone. But we have changed this,”
