Tamilnadu to go for complete lockdown on Sunday, only essential services will function

Chennai: After Delhi government which imposed complete lockdown to break the chain of Covid infection, Tamil Nadu is following the suit by going for a full lockdown on Sunday after the significant rise in the Covid cases.

The government sources said that various departments and police have been pressed into service to ensure the strict implementation of the lockdown and prevent any violation.

In order to do that, the police will place barricades and several areas and check posts will be established to prevent unnecessary public movement.

Action would be taken against those who are found on roads without any emergency need.

The sources said that the though the lockdown will be in force, however hotels are restaurants would be allowed for take away.  People can also order food to Swiggy and Zomato as the service will remain functional.

All other commercial establishments including vegetable shops will remain shut. Essential services such as medical, hospital and all that were allowed during nigh curfew will function.

In may be noted that the government had already imposed night curfew from April 20, but now there will be total lockdown from Saturday night 10:00 pm to 4:00 am of Monday.

This the first total lockdown being implemented in the State in 2021.
