T Raja Singh, a controversial BJP MLA, was arrested on Tuesday, August 23, in Hyderabad after being booked for allegedly making derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammed.
After protests erupted on Monday in several locations throughout Hyderabad, including the South Zone DCP office, a FIR was filed against him.
Singh has been charged with violating IPC sections 153A (promoting enmity between two groups) and 295A (deliberate and malicious intention of outraging the religious feelings of any class).
Singh can be heard making offensive remarks about Islam and Muslims in a supposedly viral video.
