TRP Scam: Arnab Goswami Named As Accused In Chargesheet of TRP scam By Mumbai Police

Arnab Goswami, Editor-in-Chief of Republic TV, has been named by the Mumbai Police as an accused in the 1800-pages charge sheet in the Television Rating Points (TRP) scam.

Along with Goswami, the names of four other members of ARG Outlier Media, the owner of Republic TV, were also included in the supplementary charge sheet.

The accused include COO Priya Mukherjee, Shivendu Mullelkar and Shiva Sundaram.

An FIR was registered in the name of former Mumbai top police officer Param Bir Singh nine months ago after Republic TV became involved in the notorious TRP scam case.

So far, the chargesheet has included the names of 15 people, including Partho Das Gupta, former CEO of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC), and Vikash Khan Chandani, CEO of Republic TV.

The chargesheet was filed for the Criminal Commission under Sections 406, 409 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (fraudulent and dishonest provision of property) 465, 468 (forgery), 201, 204 (loss or destruction of evidence), 212 (harbouring seeker) and 120B (conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code.

The investigation on the case was launched after it was revealed that particular Hansa Group’s employees had manipulated the ‘sampling meter services’ by paying people to watch certain TV channels.
