Lucknow. Heavy rainfall in Nepal has affected districts along the Nepal-India border. Floodwaters have entered villages in Bahraich, Ayodhya, Barabanki, and other areas. Four people have died in flood-affected areas in the past 24 hours.

According to government data, 41 districts have been affected by floods, with 21 additional districts affected in the past 24 hours. The Ganga River is flowing above danger levels in Badaun’s Kachlabridge, Gazipur, and Ballia, while the Sharda River is above danger levels in Lakhimpur Kheri’s Palia Kalan and the Ghaghara River in Barabanki’s Elgin Bridge and Ayodhya.

In Ayodhya, the Saryu River has reached its highest water level this season due to the release of 8 lakh cusecs of water from Nepal’s barrages. The river is flowing 59 cm above the danger mark, affecting around 8,000 people in 550 homes in Sadar and Rudauli tehsils.

Relief efforts are underway, with NDRF and SDRF teams deployed. The administration has increased vigilance along the riverbanks and is providing relief materials to affected areas.

Floods have affected several villages, including Sarai Nasir, Muzehna, Maroucha, Pasiya, Noorpur, Abbupur, and Sallapur. Many villages have become islands due to flooding, and residents are struggling to access basic necessities.

The floods have also disrupted transportation, cutting off several villages. Residents are forced to live on the riverbanks, using polythene sheets for shelter.

In Rudauli tehsil, over 400 families have been affected, with many homes inundated. The local administration has set up relief camps, but many residents are yet to receive aid.

The floods have also affected livestock, with many animals stranded in the river. Farmers are struggling to protect their crops from stray animals.
