AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan’s judicial custody extended

New Delhi: A Delhi court has extended the judicial custody of jailed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan till October 7 in connection with a money laundering probe.

After his judicial custody ended on Monday, he was produced before Special Judge Rakesh Sail Khan. The judge issued a verdict extending the period of judicial custody.

He was arrested under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act on September 2 by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) after raiding his residence in Delhi’s Okhla. The ED argued that releasing Amanatullah Khan at this stage would lead to tampering with evidence and hamper the investigation.

Amanatullah Khan was “absent” during interrogation after the search. He had to be arrested for this. The ED said the agency is investigating the financial misappropriation offense related to allegations of illegal assets related to the Delhi Waqf Board, which Khan chairs.
