For the years 2023–2024, Ramees EK has been chosen to serve as SIO of India’s National President. He is a native of Kuttiyadi in Kerala’s Kozhikode district. He received his MA in Political Science from the University of Hyderabad. At Jamia Millia Islamia, he is currently pursuing a PhD in political science.
Ramees edited Campus Alive, SIO Kerala’s online magazine, for a year while serving on the Zonal Advisory Council from 2016 to 2018. Prior to his present position, he served as SIO Delhi’s Campus Secretary for the 2019–20 academic year.
In the wake of Dalit Scholar Rohith Vemula’s murder, he led the student movement at HCU calling for justice and protection for underprivileged students on campuses.
