Five Army Soldiers Swept Away While Crossing River in Ladakh

Leh (PTI): Five Army soldiers are feared drowned after being swept away while crossing a river in a T-72 tank near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Nyoma-Chushul area of Ladakh early Saturday, officials reported.

The incident occurred near Mandir Morh, 148 kilometers from Leh, during an exercise around 1 am.

According to the officials, the T-72 tank, carrying five soldiers, sank due to flash floods while attempting to cross the river.

A rescue operation has been launched, and further details are awaited.
