The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has released its manifesto for the forthcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, promising significant changes if elected. At a ceremony held at the party headquarters, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, accompanied by senior party leaders, introduced the manifesto titled “People’s Aspirations.”

Key highlights of the manifesto include:

  1. Restoration of Statehood- The PDP commits to working towards the reinstatement of Jammu and Kashmir’s status as a full-fledged state.
  2. Economic Initiatives- The party proposes the creation of a regional free-trade area and a shared economic market to boost local economic growth.
  3. Legal Reforms- The manifesto calls for the revocation of several controversial laws, including the Public Safety Act (PSA), Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and Enemy Act, alongside a promise to abolish the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).
  4. Addressing Job Terminations: The PDP pledges to revisit and rectify cases of “unjust” job terminations of government employees who were dismissed under terror abetment charges.

The manifesto outlines the PDP’s vision for restoring political autonomy, enhancing economic opportunities, and reforming legal structures in Jammu and Kashmir.
