Arvind Kejriwal to Resign as Delhi CM, AAP Faces Challenge of Finding Temporary Leader

New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal has announced his decision to step down as Delhi’s Chief Minister, vowing to return only after a public verdict on the corruption allegations against him. This raises the crucial question of who within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will fill the top post.

Though Delhi assembly elections are scheduled for February next year, Kejriwal has called for polls to be held in November alongside Maharashtra’s. Former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has echoed Kejriwal’s stance, stating he too will seek re-election before returning to office. This means AAP’s top leaders are not in the race for the interim Chief Minister position.

The AAP leadership will now seek a leader who can represent the party on key issues and has broad support within the party ranks, even if the tenure is short-lived.
