Inauguration of ‘Karnataka Madrasa Plus’ Program in 100 Madrasas by Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan

Bangalore: To bridge the gap between religious and modern education, the Department of Minority Welfare, Government of Karnataka, under the supervision of Shaheen Group of Institutions, Bidar, has officially launched the “Karnataka Madrasa Plus” program. The initiative aims to integrate modern education into the curriculum of 100 madrasas across the state, benefiting thousands of students. The program was inaugurated in Bengaluru by State Minister for Minority Welfare, Housing, and Waqf, Mr. B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Zameer Ahmed Khan emphasized the importance of the program in equipping madrasa students with the knowledge required to thrive in today’s fast-evolving world. “This initiative will ensure that students pursuing religious education are also empowered with modern skills, making them well-rounded individuals,” he said. He also highlighted the role of Shaheen Group of Institutions in implementing the program, acknowledging their expertise in providing quality education.

The inauguration was attended by several distinguished guests, including the State Minister for Municipal Administration and Haj Affairs, Mr. Muhammad Rahim Khan, Chief Minister’s Political Advisor, Mr. Naseer Ahmed, Chairman of the Karnataka Minority Welfare Corporation, Mr. U. Nisar Ahmed, Chairman of the Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation, Mr. Muhammad Altaf Khan, Rajya Sabha MP Mr. Naseer Hussain, and Director of the Directorate of Minority Affairs, Mr. Jeelani H. Mukashi. Dr. Abdul Qadeer, Chairman of Shaheen Group of Institutions, also graced the occasion, reinforcing the institution’s ongoing commitment to educational upliftment.

Shaheen Group has long been recognized for its pioneering efforts in integrating madrasa students into mainstream education. Their innovative Academic Intensive Care Unit (AICU) model, designed to help dropouts and low achievers, has been particularly praised. The AICU program’s success in nurturing students who have excelled in competitive exams and entered prestigious fields such as medicine, engineering, and civil services was acknowledged during the event.

The “Karnataka Madrasa Plus” program will allow madrasa students to continue their religious studies while also learning modern subjects like English, Kannada, Mathematics, Science, and Data Entry. The part-time curriculum ensures that students are prepared for the challenges of the modern world without compromising their religious education.
