The body of B.M. Mumtaz Ali, a prominent businessman and community leader, was discovered in the Phalguni River at Kuloor on Monday morning. His disappearance was reported after his car was found near the Kuloor bridge on Sunday.
The body was promptly transported to AJ Hospital in Mangaluru. Earlier, evidence of an accident was observed on the right front side of the car.
An FIR has been filed at Kavoor Police Station against six individuals, including a woman, under section 173 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) for allegedly extorting substantial sums of money from Mumtaz Ali through repeated threats and blackmail.
