Kalaburgi: Kalaburgi North MLA Kaneez Fatima, who fought for girls’ right to wear hijab, retains her seat by defeating BJP’s Chandrakanth Patil by 2,712 votes.

Kaneez Fatima, who is the Congress MLA from Kalaburgi North, had protested against the previous BJP government’s ban on hijab.
We will withdraw the hijab ban in the coming days, and we will admit those girl students to classes. They will be able to appear for their exams. She defeated the BJP’s Chandrakant Patil by 2,712 votes. In the 2018 elections too, Fatima had won against the same Chandrakant Patil.
“I wear a hijab and sit in the assembly. If anyone dares stop me, Those who want to wear hijab will continue to do so. It is part of our culture, and no one has the right to stop it, as she told the media last year.
