Naveen Patnaik resigns as CM of Odisha after its electoral defeat, an end of 24-year rule

Navin Patnaik, the BJD Supremo , who is also the second longest CM in the country for his fove year tenure as the CM of odisha. After suffering a massive defeat in the State assembly and Parliamentary elections, BJD chief Naveen Patnaik submitted his resignation to Odisha governor Raghubar Das at at the Raj Bhavan in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday. Patnaik had for the first time taken oath as the chief minister of Odisha on March 5, 2000.

In the 147-seat assembly, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 78 seats, while the BJD won 51 seats, falling well short of the 74-seat majority mark. The people of Odisha must not forget the initiatives took by Patnaik for the state, whether it be standing right behind the Indian Hockey Team like a backbone and supporting it in each possible way when the central ruling government turned a blind eye towards it or leading a state full of corruption-free administration. It is really hard to find a humble figure like Patnaik these days where politics has gone down and it is only confined to blaming each other.

Patnaik’s defeat is really heartbreaking for the country. It makes us wonder that was it really the CM’s age on which people lost their trust or was it a well oriented and deliberate brainwash by opposition parties who continuously tried to bring the CM down by repeatedly pointing out on his health.
