PDP President Mehbooba Mufti remarked that the Congress’s recently unveiled manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections is perceived as populist, causing apprehension within the BJP and sparking communal tensions.
Addressing reporters after a campaign event in Kulgam, Jammu, and Kashmir, she highlighted the proposal of granting 50 percent reservation to women in the Congress manifesto, which has unsettled the NDA.
Mehbooba Mufti, contesting from the Anantnag-Rajouri constituency, praised the manifesto’s focus on addressing the issues of poverty, unemployment, and agriculture, emphasizing its uniqueness in the past 70 years.
She criticized BJP leaders for their reactions, attributing them to frustration and accusing them of stoking Hindu-Muslim tensions. Mufti underscored the importance of voting as a peaceful means to address oppression, contrasting it with violence, and urged for active participation in the electoral process.
