Ukraine-Russia war escalates, Zelenskyy proposes removal of Russia from the UN

As Russia in its recent offensive has struck a shopping mall with a missile in Ukraine, its President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is calling on world leaders to remove Russia from the United Nations. The missile strike on the shopping mall killed 18 people in the Ukrainian city of Kremenchuk, reported The Quint.

On Wednesday Russian forces battled to surround the Ukrainian military’s last stronghold in a long-contested eastern province as shock reverberated from a Russian airstrike on a shopping mall that killed at least 18 people in the centre of the country a day earlier.

Kremlin had urged Kyiv authorities on Tuesday to order their troops to lay down arms and only then would Russia halt its offensive against Ukraine.

Russia’s deputy UN ambassador tells the United Nations Security Council that Moscow’s precision weapons hit hangars in the Kremenchuk road machinery plant, causing a fire that spread to the mall, reported Al-Jazeera.

Meanwhile, in a historic move, the western alliance has recognised Russia as a threat, the NATO has labelled Russia a menace.
