Karnataka Government Halts ‘Hamare Baarah’ Screenings Following Concerns from Muslim Organizations

Bengaluru (PTI): The Karnataka government has banned the screening of the Hindi movie ‘Hamare Baarah’ for at least two weeks following concerns raised by Muslim organizations.

In an official order, the government halted the release of the film and its trailer across electronic media, social media, film theatres, private television channels, and other platforms.

The order stated that several Muslim organizations had appealed to the government to prevent the screening of the movie, claiming it portrays Islam in an “instigative and derogatory manner.” They argued that allowing such a film would incite hatred between faiths and communities.

The organizations further alleged that there was a conspiracy to target their faith, disturb peace, and hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims.
