BJP and JD(S) Demand CM Siddaramaiah’s Resignation After High Court Verdict in MUDA Case

Bengaluru (PTI): The opposition BJP and JD(S) in Karnataka intensified their calls for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s resignation following the High Court’s ruling in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) case. Both parties attempted to lay siege to his residence, “Cauvery,” on Wednesday.

Members of the BJP Yuva Morcha, holding posters and raising slogans, marched toward Siddaramaiah’s residence but were stopped by the police, who took them into preventive custody. Meanwhile, JD(S) leaders and workers, led by former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, staged a protest at Freedom Park before being blocked by police while attempting to move toward “Cauvery.”

The protest followed the High Court’s decision to uphold Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot’s sanction for an investigation into Siddaramaiah over allegations of illegal site allotment to his wife, B.M. Parvathi, by MUDA. The court also dismissed Siddaramaiah’s petition challenging the Governor’s order under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
