Chhattisgarh Moist blast kills armed forces jawan, leaves one injured

A Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) jawan was killed and another jawan was injured after a blast was triggered by the Maoists in the Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh, the police stated on Wednesday.

The blast occurred at around 11 am in Aamdai Ghati iron ore mine area which comes under the jurisdiction of Chhote Dongar police station. It happened when the security personnel had been out following an area domination operation, a senior police official was quoted by news agency PTI. “Maoists triggered an IED blast and opened firing on the patrolling team that led to an encounter between the two sides,” he told the PTI.

Constable Kamlesh Sahu, who belonged to the 9th battalion of CAF, was killed in the incident. The blast led to some minor injuries of another constable, Vinay Kumar Sahu, he added. Sahu was a native of Janjgir-Champa district of the state, the senior official said. While Vinay Kumar Sahu was shifted to a local hospital and the search operation is currently undergoing. The search operation is led by a joint team of Indo Tibetan Border Police and District Reserve Guard, he added.

This is one of the many attacks that has taken place during this year. In this year, total ten security personnels along with a driver were killed in an improvised explosive device blast which was allegedly carried out by the Maoists in the Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh.
