Congress reminds of former Indian Prime Minister Vajpayee’s “Raja Dharma”

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met academicians, authors and investors in New York on the first day of his US tour. He criticized the Prime Minister as having completely failed in his duty by deliberately ignoring Manipur.

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh took a dig at the Prime Minister and said that amidst all the news about the PM’s visit to the USA, let us remember that today is the 50th consecutive day of pain, suffering and agony in Manipur. The prime minister, who gives knowledge on many issues, sadly did not say a word about the tragedy that engulfed the state nor did he give appointments or any notice to representatives of political parties who asked for time.

He has completely failed in his duty as the Prime Minister of India by deliberately ignoring Manipur during the crisis. Jairam Ramesh said that the PM’s behavior regarding Manipur was extremely shocking and beyond comprehension.

This statement came a day after Prime Minister Modi visited America on Tuesday.
Participating in back-to-back meetings, he met Neil deGrasse Tyson, a leading American astrophysicist, author and science communicator, on Tuesday.
Modi and Tyson exchanged views on inculcating scientific temperament among the youth.
On Tuesday, leaders of 10 opposition parties accused the Prime Minister over the violence in Manipur and for neglecting the people of the northeastern state, saying there was a sense of pain and disappointment.

The Congress lashed out at the Prime Minister for having time to meet film writer Manoj Muntashir, who penned lewd dialogues for the film ‘Adipurush’ without any appointment, for 45 minutes while failing to meet leaders of the violence-plagued state, icluding those from the BJP.
The Congress criticized the Prime Minister’s silence on the Manipur violence. The Congress on Tuesday reminded the Prime Minister to follow ‘Rajdharma’ instead of engaging in campaigning to “improve his image”.
