Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh President Dr. Shafiqur Rahman Calls for Protection of Minority Religious Places Amid Political Transition

Dhaka — Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, President of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh, urged the protection of religious places belonging to minority communities following the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Dr. Rahman highlighted the turbulent political climate, describing Sheikh Hasina’s departure as a result of a mass uprising led by students and the general public. He condemned the former Prime Minister as a dictator who was forced to step down and leave the country due to mounting public pressure.

An interim government is set to be formed shortly to manage the state affairs during this transitional period. However, Dr. Rahman warned of potential conspiracies aiming to destabilize the country. He expressed concern over the possibility of attacks on religious places, homes, and properties of minority communities, which could lead to widespread anarchy.

“I am calling upon the people of Bangladesh, Jamaat-e-Islami members, leaders and activists of various political parties, and fellow countrymen to act as guardians. We must ensure that no one can exploit this situation to incite violence against people of different religions,” Dr. Rahman stated.
