Rahul Gandhi Condemns BJP Over Kangana’s Remarks, Calls It a ‘Grave Insult’ to Farmers

In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi criticized the Modi government, accusing it of using propaganda to insult farmers after failing to fulfill promises made to them. He condemned a BJP MP for calling farmers, who lost 700 people during their 378-day protest, “rapists” and “foreign agents,” labeling this as proof of the BJP’s anti-farmer stance.

Gandhi described these remarks as a grave insult to farmers nationwide, especially those in Western Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab. He highlighted the government’s lack of progress on issues like MSP and relief for families of martyred farmers, arguing that the Modi government’s disrespect for farmers exposes its betrayal.

Congress President Kharge echoed Gandhi’s sentiment, recalling PM Modi’s past insults toward farmers and accusing the BJP of a broader anti-farmer ideology. Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate called for either Kangana Ranaut to apologize for her comments or for the BJP to disavow her. The BJP later clarified that Ranaut’s statements do not represent the party’s views and directed her not to make such comments in the future.

In a post in Hindi on X, Gandhi said, “The propaganda machinery of the Modi government, which has failed to fulfill the promises made to the farmers, is constantly engaged in insulting the farmers.” The BJP MP calling the farmers, who sacrificed 700 of their own people during the 378-day marathon struggle, rapists and representatives of foreign forces is another proof of the party’s anti-farmer policy and intentions, the former Congress chief said.
