They had to struggle to get two times meals in a day.From that situation, dreaming of winning a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games, many people may call it like catching the moon as a dwarf! Achinta Shiuli, a resident of Deulpur, Panchla, Howrah district has done it possible.
Achinta Shiuli is 20 years old. Achintya Shewli won the gold medal in men’s 73 kg weightlifting category. Achinta lifted 143 kg in the snatch category. Besides, he lifted 170 kg weight in the clean and jerk category and set a new history for the country.
He also won the gold medal with a total lift of 313 kg.
Achinta’s father was a van driver by profession.
He passed away 9 years ago.
Then Achintya’s mother took charge of the whole family.
She used to run the family by working in lace.
It is known that his weekly income was only 500 rupees.
The family was running on that money.
He also added, “I want to dedicate this award to my elder brother and my coach. Because, since my father passed away, he has done everything for me. My elder brother used to do weightlifting himself. But looking at me, he gave it all up.”
