Uttar Pradesh: A heart-wrenching incident took place in which 22 people, including 8 children, died as a result of a tractor trolley carrying devotees for the Ganga bath on Magha Purnima lost control and fell into a lake.
The tractor-trolley overturned after falling into a lake on the Patiali-Daryavganj road. As a result, it is reported that most of the devotees drowned in the water and died.
Officials have informed that there were a total of 40 people in the overturned trolley that took place in Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh.
Locals informed that the tractor suddenly lost control while going over the bridge and fell into the lake. Locals immediately came to the spot and tried to rescue those in the water. However, it is known that 15 people, including 8 children, drowned in the water.
Eight women and children were among the dead. The seriously injured have been shifted to the district hospital and are being treated.
Commenting on the incident, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Rajeev Agarwal said, “22 deaths have been confirmed so far. Seven children and eight women died at the CHC in Patiala. 10 people are injured”.
Locals alleged that due to the lack of a proper road system from the place of the incident to the district hospital, it was delayed for the authorities concerned to reach the place of relief and rescue work.
As soon as the information about the incident came to light, many police officials including District Collector Sudha Verma, and District Superintendent of Police Aparna Rajat Kaushik reached the spot.
It has come to know that many people from the same family are among the dead, and the family members of the deceased are in mourning.
All the deceased are said to be from the Jaitara area of Ita district. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has instructed to give Rs 2 lakh each to the families of those who died in the accident and Rs 50,000 to those seriously injured.
