Ballari: Jailed Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa will receive television in his cell following a request, officials confirmed on Saturday.
The Bengaluru police recently filed a 3,991-page chargesheet against 17 accused in the Renukaswamy murder case, including Darshan. On August 29, the actor was transferred from Parappana Agrahara Central Prison to Ballari after a viral photo showed him mingling with a rowdy sheeter, sparking controversy.
A senior jail official stated, “He requested a TV last week to stay updated on his case and current events. As per prison guidelines, he will likely have the television by Monday.”
Darshan, along with Pavithra Gowda and 15 others, remains in judicial custody. According to police, the murder allegedly stemmed from Renukaswamy, a fan of Darshan, sending obscene messages to Pavithra, enraging the actor.
