In Mysore, various organizations including the Sakalante Caste Sahabhala Sangh, Karnataka State Farmers’ Association and Dalit Sangharsh Samiti, organized an event at a Muslim shop in Udayagiri Road for the purpose of proclaiming the message of peace and harmony.

The campaign was led by Sahitya Devanura Mahadeva, (Kannada writer, Dalit activist), along with Socialist P. Mallesh, Badagalpura Nagendra, Guruprasad Keragodu, Alagodu Shivakumar, Shambulingaswamy, P. Marankayya, Basavaraju, Kallahalli Kumara. They have bought halal meat from Sajyad Rizwan’s Karnataka chicken and mutton stall in Aziz Seth main road.

From the past few days, several Hindutva groups have been carrying out campaigns throughout the state seeking to ban halal meat saying that Muslims perform rituals according to the Islamic faith before killing animals which is then consumed by Hindus.
