Rape Allegation: BJP MLA Muniratna Jailed Again For 14 Days; Court order for judicial arrest

Bengaluru: BJP MLA Muniratna was remanded to 14 days of judicial custody on Saturday following his arrest by the Kaggalipur police on rape charges. This marks his second imprisonment in recent weeks, having previously been released on bail on Thursday after being jailed for threatening a contractor and engaging in caste abuse.

The police presented Muniratna before the court, where the judge ordered his detention until October 5. During the hearing, Muniratna broke down in tears, claiming a systematic conspiracy to keep him incarcerated. He attributed the recent rape complaint to political motives, suggesting that the complainant could have filed it earlier if her intentions were genuine.

Muniratna expressed his willingness to resign from his position if necessary but struggled to cope with the emotional toll of the allegations. In response, the judge advised him to resign from wherever he deemed appropriate. When asked about the need for police custody, the Public Prosecutor declined.
