Case Filed Against Dulquer Salmaan Starrer ‘Kurup’ in Kerala HC

A resident from Kerala’s Kochi has filed a case against Dulquer Salmaan starring Malayalam film Kurup, according to The Indian Express. The film is set to release on 12 November this year.

According to the PIL, the movie threatens the privacy of India’s longest wanted criminal Sukumara Kurup on whom the story is based.

However, the High Court has not issued a stay on the film, but a notification has been sent to the central government, state government, including the Interpol, and the producers of the film about it.

Kurup, a biographical crime thriller directed by Srinath Rajendran has Salmaan in the leading role where he plays the part of a conman who murdered another man in 1984 to fake his own death and claim the insurance money. The film has been written by Jithin K Jose, Daniell Sayooj Nair and KS Aravind.

Based on the life of a real-life fugitive, the film stars Dulquer Salmaan as Kurup, Sobhita Dhulipala as Sharada Kurup, Tovino Thomas as Chacko.

The story of Sukumara Kurup is quite popular in the south, since Kurup has dodged his arrest for more than four decades now.
