KVs to admit kids left orphaned due to Covid

Following Centre’s directives to KVS to give admissions to such children across the country under the PM Cares for Children Scheme, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) decided to give free admission to those children who have lost both their parents to the Covid-19 pandemic in the last two years, Hindustan Times reported.

The scheme aims to provide comprehensive care and protection for these children, as well as to enable their wellbeing through health insurance, empower them through education, and equip them for self-sufficiency with financial support when they reach the age of 23.

“These kids would be admitted in different classes as per their age and their admission would be over and above the strength of the respective classes,” KVS officials said.

Furthermore, they would receive free education from class 1 to class 12 and would be exempt from tuition fees, Vidyalya Vikas Nidhi (VVN) charges, and so on.

“The admission under this category would be given by the KV concerned on the recommendation of the district magistrate of the district concerned. The DM can recommend a maximum of 10 students per school with a rider of two students per class,” the officials said.
