Madhya Pradesh | 6-year-old boy falls into borewell, rescue operation begins

A six-year-old boy fell into an open borewell in an agricultural field in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district, officials said on Friday.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Rewa, Additional Superintendent of Police Anil Sonkar informed, “The six-year-old boy fell into and is currently trapped in this borewell with a diameter of 6 cm”.

“The boy was playing with his friends in the harvested wheat field when he fell into the borewell. “Other children tried to help lift the boy when they could not, immediately informed the boy’s parents.”

“The boy’s parents informed the police and administration and immediately the station in-charge and SDM arrived at the spot. The incident took place around 3.30 pm and all the senior officers were present at the spot and rescue work was going on,” he said.

“2 JCBs, a team of cameramen, and an SDRF team are carrying out the rescue operation. An NDRF team has been sent from Banaras and will be here soon,” he said.

Recently, a 2-year-old boy who fell into a tubewell in Lachyana village of Indi taluk of Vijayapur district in Karnataka was rescued after 18 hours of continuous operation.
