Udaipur: Gruesome murder of tailor over post in support of Nupur Sharma

Kanhaiya Lal was murdered by two men in Rajasthan’s Udaipur, in his tailoring shop over his posts on social media in support of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, who was suspended by the ruling party earlier this month after her comments on Prophet Muhammad, reported NDTV.

Lal had been threatened multiple times over his social media posts earlier. The gruesome killing of the tailor took place on Tuesday in his shop in a busy Dhan Mandi market of Udaipur, the two men who killed Lal not only filmed the gruesome murder but also bragged about taking revenge of the insult to Islam. The persons seen in the video were later arrested by the police.

The two men identified as Gos Mohammad and Riyaz, after murdering Lal, had later uploaded the barbaric video of the murder on social media, in another video they gloated over the murder and threatened Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The video shows graphic images of the murder, the Udaipur police have warned against sharing or circulating the video.

The murder of Kanhaiya Lal has sparked unrest in the city and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, has appealed for peace.

Reacting to the cold-blooded murder of the tailor in Udaipur, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has condemned the acts and said that “taking the law into your own hands is highly condemnable, regrettable and un-Islamic”.

The Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Hind have also condemned the incident, and said that this goes against the law of the land and Islamic religion too.

Condemning the Udaipur gruesome murder AIMIM president and MP Asaduddin Owaisi has demanded that strictest action be taken against the perpetrators and his party’s stance is that of opposing any form of violence and they stand against anyone taking the law into their own hands.
