Chennai: In a tragic incident, five members of the same family were found dead inside a car in Pudukottai district, Tamil Nadu. The car, parked along the Trichy-Karaikudi National Highway, was discovered by locals who alerted the police after noticing it had been stationary since the previous evening.
The deceased have been identified as Manikanthan, a 50-year-old businessman from Salem, along with his wife Nitya, mother Saroja, and their two children. Preliminary investigations suggest that the family committed suicide by consuming poison. A letter was recovered from the car, but the motive behind the tragedy is yet to be confirmed.
Authorities are probing whether financial difficulties, including potential pressure from creditors, drove the family to take this extreme step. Manikanthan was reportedly involved in the metal business and was in debt. The investigation is ongoing.
