Actor Siddharth booked for sexist tweet on Saina Nehwal

The Cyber Crime wing of Hyderabad city police on Wednesday registered a case against actor Siddharth for his alleged sexist remarks against badminton player Saina Nehwal, on Twitter two days ago.

After a woman named Prema had filed a complaint, the Cyber Crime Wing police booked a case against Siddharth under IPC Section 509 and 67 of the IT Act.

In response to Nehwal’s tweet on the issue of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy being blocked in Punjab a few days ago, Siddharth had made the allegedly derogatory comment against her.

Following severe backlash and outrage on the microblogging website, actor Siddharth had apologized on Wednesday.

Earlier, the National Commission for Women also took cognizance of the tweet and had directed the Tamil Nadu DGP to take action against him
